Steve Ernst is a true gentleman and a grateful heart recipient. Diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy in 2007 and placed on the transplant list soon after. Steve became so ill he could barely walk and talk.

Steve lived 5 hours from Sydney, on 3 occasions the hospital called and Steve began his journey, 3 times he was turned around, on the 4th occasion Steve’s surgery went ahead. In 2008, Steve was gifted a new heart and 8 weeks post-transplant was back in the saddle. Steve’s transplant has enabled him to watch his daughter, Gabrielle grow into a beautiful young lady.

He is now back to living his life, returning to his regular occupation as a re-fuller at an open cut coal mine and is back participating in Campdrafts.
